Early access — not live yet

For subscription businesses on Stripe

Know when your Stripe account
is under attack.

RecoupMRR Guard will watch your Stripe account for signs of card testing, rising disputes, and early fraud warnings, and alert you by email or Slack so you can act before they pile up. It will work alongside Stripe Radar, not instead of it.

Small problems that turn into account problems

What Stripe's own documentation says these can lead to.

01

Card testing

Fraudsters run stolen cards through your checkout, often as small payments. Stripe's docs list the results: disputes and early fraud warnings on the ones that succeed, and a pile of declines that can make issuers treat your real customers' payments as riskier.

02

Disputes adding up

Card networks run monitoring programs for businesses with high dispute activity. Stripe's docs say excessive dispute activity can affect your ability to process payments and can lead to fines from the networks — and every dispute counts, won or lost.

03

Early fraud warnings

Visa, Mastercard, and JCB issuers flag payments they suspect are fraudulent. A warning can be your chance to refund before it turns into a dispute, and Visa counts these warnings in its monitoring program.

What Guard will do

Planned features for early access.

01

Alerts when something looks wrong

Guard will check your Stripe account regularly and email you, or post to Slack, when it sees a jump in failed or blocked payments, a burst of small payments, new early fraud warnings, or new disputes. Each alert will link to the right page in your Stripe Dashboard and list the steps Stripe recommends.

02

A monthly account health report

Once a month: your dispute activity and how it's trending, early fraud warnings and what happened to them, and failed and blocked payment patterns. So you notice a slow climb before it becomes a problem.

Watching, not touching

Like RecoupMRR, Guard will use a read-only restricted key that you create in Stripe. It will be able to read, but the key itself can't change anything in your account. No code, no webhooks to deploy, no changes to your checkout.

Read access does include payment details such as customer names and emails, billing details, and card brand and last 4 digits, which Guard needs to spot patterns.

  • Read charges, payment intents, and card setups
  • Read early fraud warnings and disputes
  • Read customers and account events
  • Refund, block, or create payments
  • Change Radar rules or settings
  • Touch your balance or payouts
  • See full card numbers

Questions

Doesn't Stripe Radar already handle this?

Radar screens your payments and Stripe blocks many card testing attempts automatically — you'll see them marked "Blocked by Stripe". Keep it on. Guard won't block or approve anything. It will watch the overall pattern across your account and tell you when it changes, which is when you may need to act: refund suspicious payments, tighten your checkout, or answer disputes.

Doesn't Stripe send alerts already?

Some. Every Stripe account gets basic health alerts about API errors and outages. Stripe's advanced health alerts, including anomaly alerts, are for accounts on its Growth, Premium, or Enterprise support plans. Stripe also says it will alert you when it predicts your dispute activity could become excessive. Guard won't replace those alerts. It is meant to add a watch on card-testing patterns and early fraud warning trends, a monthly account health report, and Slack alerts, without a support plan.

What access does Guard need?

A read-only Stripe restricted API key that you create. It reads Charges (which includes early fraud warnings), Payment Intents, Setup Intents, Disputes, Customers, and Events, and every write permission stays at None. So the key itself can't refund, block, or create payments, change your Radar rules, or touch your payouts. You can revoke it in Stripe at any time.

What can't Guard see?

Only what that key can read. It can't see your API request logs, so a card testing attack that never reaches a payment or card setup in Stripe won't show up. Guard will also work from regular checks rather than instant webhooks, so alerts won't be instant, and it can miss things. It's an extra pair of eyes, not a guarantee.

How will my key be stored?

It will be encrypted at rest and never written to logs. Full card numbers never reach us — Stripe doesn't share them through the API.

I already use RecoupMRR (or plan to). Is this the same product?

No, it's a separate add-on we're testing. The plan is $19/month on its own, or $10/month added to a RecoupMRR subscription, using the same read-only key approach.

When can I use it?

Guard isn't built yet. We're checking whether enough Stripe businesses want it. Join the waitlist and we'll email you if and when early access opens.
